“If you are a knight of the City, this is your steed.”
Tom Doyle, Art Lead

Concept: Isaac Hannaford
3D Model: Travis Brady

The world of Destiny is an immense frontier. Your missions as a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth will cover a lot of ground. To propel you from one location to the next, no matter which destination you’re fighting to recapture, there is the Shrike. It swallows the landscape like a bird of prey with an insatiable appetite for scenery; be it the crimson dunes of Mars, the lush jungles of Venus, the dusty craters of the Moon, or the rusted wastes of our own homeworld.

It’s sleek, nimble, and fast – a worthy mount for any hero who risks life and limb to explore the lost settlements of our Golden Age. Guardians aboard Shrikes rocket across the frontier borne on contrails of light, delivered to the action at breakneck speed. In imagining your personal transport, Isaac Hannaford embraced a concept of the Shrike as your very own pride and joy. “We wanted to give Guardians the experience of having a glorious beast to convey them from place to place - something that represented them.”

Where it lacks teeth, it compensates with reliability, providing you with a boost where you need it. “The ability to summon a vehicle on demand turns you and your friends into a futuristic biker gang,” Tom Doyle says (leather jacket not included). “Getting from point A to point B should be fun… not a menu option.”

Unlike the vehicles in your world, Tom Doyle promises us that the Shrike will only get better as you pack on the mileage. “The Shrike is something that you’ll upgrade over time in Destiny,” he says. “Right off the bat, the Shrike has three distinct paint schemes that correspond to your particular Class.”

“Each paint scheme has its own distinct color palette to reflect progression,” Doyle concludes, forecasting an evolution that will match your own. Your Shrike is just one more way to tell your fellow Guardians that you’ve seen things they wouldn’t believe.

Disclaimer: Destiny is a work in progress!

This is just one vehicle in an ongoing series in which we’ll dig into the finer details of our upcoming first person action game, and explore how every element shapes the brave new world where your adventure will take place. All items, details, names, and pieces of random trivia are subject to change or sudden redesign on the assembly line.

The new Doctor’s ‘costume’ has been revealed.

Commenting on his costume, Peter Capaldi said: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 percent Rebel Time Lord.  While lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over - Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”

Recently I was looking at some star charts made by the dwemer and other groups and I noticed a couple of patterns. The above is my version of the star chart of Tamriel.

The heavens, it would seem, as in most cultures, have a direct correlation to the calendar system as well. The numbers marked on the map indicate the months (in calendar order) tied to the 12 birthsigns (the Serpent not included).

Those marked in blue are the signs associated with the Mage, those in green are those associated with the Thief, and those in yellow are those associated with the Warrior.

The progression follows a simple pattern. The year is divided up into three groups of four months each. Each of these groups is begun on the last sign of the associated guardian group and continues in its row counter clockwise ending always in a guardian sign. Each of these groups is dominated by one guardian group or another, consisting of two signs within that group and only one from the other two groups.

The months and associated signs are as follows (in calendar order):

  1. Morning Star - The Ritual (Mage Charge)
  2. Sun’s Dawn - The Lover (Thief Charge)
  3. First Seed - The Lord (Warrior Charge)
  4. Rain’s Hand - The Mage (Guardian)
  5. Second Seed - The Shadow (Thief Charge)
  6. Mid Year - The Steed (Warrior Charge)
  7. Sun’s Height - The Apprentice (Mage Charge)
  8. Last Seed - The Warrior (Guardian)
  9. Hearth Fire - The Lady (Warrior Charge)
  10. Frost Fall - The Tower (Thief Charge)
  11. Sun’s Dusk - The Atronach (Mage Charge)
  12. Evening Star - The Thief (Guardian)
